About Bayou City Nature Restoration

At Bayou City Nature Restoration, our mission is not only to create sustainable, resilient ecosystems through the principles of nature based solutions but we are also dedicated to providing high-quality, locally adapted native plants that support resilient landscapes especially in Houston, Texas. We believe in reconciling climate change with more sustainable decision making about incorporating the natural world and fostering a regenerative relationship with native landscapes. We intentionally focus our efforts towards restoring ecologically deficient spaces and increasing their ecological services especially in underserved communities. 

Over the years, we have successfully transformed numerous spaces, contributing to the regeneration of natural systems and the enhancement of local biodiversity in Houston,Texas. Our projects range from vacant lots to local government sites, each tailored to the specific needs and conditions of the location. We take great care in growing native plants and for every native plant Bayou City Nature Restoration sells, a portion of the proceeds will go towards planting natives in underserved communities in Houston, Texas.

Erica Hubbard, Founder & Lead Designer: With many years of experience in organic gardening and sustainable urban green space solutions, Erica is the visionary behind Bayou City Nature Restoration. She is dedicated to promoting ecological harmony and resilience in neglected communities. She works with a team of dedicated garden educators, professional growers, landscapers designers, environmental educators and artists who are passionate about making Houston more climate resilient.

Founded in 2024, Bayou City Nature Restoration is a passionate team of nature based solution designers, landscapers, growers and environmental educators dedicated to transforming spaces into productive and sustainable landscapes. We are also a small native plant nursery and BIPOC permaculture think tank focused on restoration of neglected green spaces in black and brown communities in Houston. 

Permaculture, also known as 'permanent agriculture' is the backbone of our philosophy. We adhere to the core principles of:
